2016-2017 OSAP: Apply, UTAPS, Payment of Tuition Fees, Interest-Free Status, Repayment Info Sessions
The 2016-2017 OSAP application is now available. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Out-of-province Canadian students must apply for student loans through their home province
OSAP recipients are automatically considered for UTAPS (University of Toronto Assistance Program) and do not need to apply. Out-of-province Canadian students must apply for UTAPS separately. Deadline: November 1, 2016.
UTAPs disbursement, by Enrolment Services, is an ongoing process through October-November (approximately). Email notification to all eligible students is directed to UTmail+ accounts and includes details on fall/winter disbursement.
Check your ACORN/ROSI invoice for an amount posted as “UTAPS GRANT”. For details on disbursement, please see the note at bottom of the page: How Do I Apply for UTAPS?. Please direct questions about your UTAPs amount or assessment status to Enrolment Services located at: 172 St. George Street (directly across the main St. George subway station) or call 416-978-2190.
Release of OSAP Funds
OSAP loans/grants are released to those who have applied/qualified and have a valid Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA) via direct deposit to students’ bank accounts when classes begin.
Payment of Fees at UofT
Immediately after students receive their government funds, they must pay their fees promptly. Funds are not automatically redirected to pay UofT Fees – even though you may have indicated this option on your OSAP application, this process is NOT in place at UofT.
If students do not receive any funding they are still responsible for paying their fees and must begin doing so as soon as they receive notification of ineligibility/refusal.
See the Student Accounts website for exact payment deadline dates to pay before interest starts. Also see:

Maintain interest-free status with OSAP
Registered full-time students who a) have outstanding OSAP loans and b) are NOT receiving OSAP in the 2016-17 academic year, have between September 12th and September 30th to complete and validate a Continuation of Interest Free Status (Schedule 2) form in order to maintain interest-free status with previous loan(s). The form must be completed during the study period and cannot be backdated.
Non-OSAP students: Out of province students or students who’ve received part-time funding must use the Multi-page Confirmation of Enrolment (Schedule 2) (fillable PDF version - 6-pages) or their province/territory’s own form.
