An exploration of the development of documentary records and records-keeping in the western world from antiquity to the present day, with particular attention to the role of recorded information in organizations (government, business, social, cultural), the relationship of records and systems of records to the workplace and to records-keeping technologies, and the role of documents in personal life. All documentary media are included.
