MASTER OF MUSEUM STUDIES
Canadian Museums Association (CMA) Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement
Awarded to the graduating student with the highest GPA in the MMSt program.
Dean’s Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement
Awarded to the graduand who ranks highest in the MMSt program.
ROM Visitor Engagement Award
Awarded to a Museum student or group who has made important contributions to visitor engagement at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM).
The AGO Visitor Experience Award
Recognizes the outstanding contribution of Museum Studies students in the advancement of education, interpretation, and visitor studies research at the Art Gallery of Ontario. This award celebrates the collaboration between the Museum Studies program and the AGO through internships, independent studies and practicum.
The Ukrainian Heritage Association and Museum of Canada Award in Museum Studies
Awarded to a student in the second year of the MMSt program with a demonstrated research interest in some aspect of museums and history/culture of Ukrainians in Canada OR community-related work.
MASTER OF INFORMATION
ARMA Toronto Chapter Award (Association of Records Managers & Administrators)
Awarded to the full-time student with the highest academic standing in a Records Management course or courses.
Beta Phi Mu Letters of Achievement
Awarded to students with a GPA of 3.9 or higher. The letters recommend recipients for admission to Beta Phi Mu, the library and information studies international honor society. Eligibility form membership in Beta Phi Mu is by invitation of the faculty from an ALA accredited professional degree program.
Douglas Armstrong Memorial Award
Awarded to one or more full-time or part-time graduands of the MI program in the Faculty of Information and demonstrated career interests in the application of new technology in library and information science and high academic achievement in not fewer than three courses dealing with automation of library and information systems and services.
Gertrude Boyle Award in Cataloguing
Awarded annually to a full-time or part-time MI graduand who has demonstrated a career interest in cataloguing and classification by having taken 3 or more elective courses in cataloguing, classification, or technical services, and is the graduand who ranks highest within this group of courses.
Jane Prescott Memorial Prize
Awarded to the student who achieves the highest standing in the course INF1325H Online Information Retrieval.
Kathleen Reeves Memorial Award
Awarded annually to a full-time or part-time MI student who ranks highest in the elective course, INF2158H - Management of Corporate and Other Special Information Centres, obtaining a standing of at least A in that course and average of not less than B+ in the MI program.
Margaret Canning Public Librarian Prize
The award recognizes a student who has taken INF2173H Information Professional Practicum, that best demonstrates success in his/her practicum. Placement must be done at a public library. Preference will be given to a placement in the area of information literacy and/or in an at-risk area/neighbourhood. If no suitable candidate is selected from INF2173H, the award will be given to the student with the highest academic grade in INF2110H Design and Evaluation of Information Literacy Programs.
Ontario Library Association (OLA) Anniversary Prize
Awarded annually to the full-time or part-time graduand who ranks highest in the MI program.
Ontario Library Board’s Association Award
Awarded annually to a full-time or part-time MLS graduand who demonstrated a career interest in library administration by having taken one or more elective courses in Administration – Library and Information Centres-related courses and is the graduand who ranks highest within this group of courses.
Rare Books and Manuscripts Award
Awarded annually to the full-time MI student who ranks highest in the elective course INF2162H - Rare Books and Manuscripts, obtaining a standing of at least A in that course and an average of not less than B+ in the program leading to the degree of MI.
Toronto Area Archivists Group Award
Awarded to one full-time or part-time graduate with the highest academic achievement in the Archives and Records Management stream/concentration of the MI program in the Faculty of Information.
Toronto Health Libraries Association – Annual Prize in Health Sciences Librarianship
Awarded to the student obtaining the highest standing in the Faculty course most directly related to health sciences librarianship (INF2135H - Health Sciences Information Resources).
